Dan Xuan was born 1973 in Yuci, Shanxi. He is currently working as Creative Director at Beijing Yuan Xiang Art Space. Xuan’s traditional Chinese Ink paintings have developed mostly as an exploration of portraiture, not just of his human subjects, but other personified creatures, presenting them as humans would pose for a picture. Xuan combines the use of dark and thick ink-work, with refined controlled strokes, creating depth and detail in his subjects.
