Ding Wei 

Ding Wei was born in Qingdao, Shandong Province. He studied at Shandong University of Arts, Art College in Qufu Normal University and completed his Masters Degree in 2009. From September 2013 to July 2014, he attended the studio of Mr. Sui Jianguo as a visiting scholar at China Central Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, he is a faculty member of Art College in Qufu Normal University and works in Rizhao, Shandong.

 

The series of work It Seems Always Wrong No Matter How I Paint represents Wei’s bewilderedness of life, and his experimentation undertaken over the last several years. Ding Wei does not paint in a conventional manner. He is constantly questioning the values and meanings of painting today, always seeking new breakthroughs within an old and established system. Wei’s work deals with universal questions regarding the values and meanings of painting in the contemporary world.
